To continue reducing cost and environmental impacts while generating positive local socio-economic impacts, we have identified three R&D gaps and business innovation:

It is important to integrate flexibility and decentralization for any innovation ecosystem to thrive. In order to build to local capacity and enable effective innovation, we will aim to deploy the following capabilities at the early stage:

  • Building one Boiler test facility for the wood chips and related products (Pellets, Briquettes)
  • Partner with academic and industry innovators for current and new application of WC, FWP, and UWP
  • As the production of WC, FWP, and UWP are scaled, the initial units will be kept for R&D and training activities.

Common Sense Sustainability Development

Several economic sectors are currently under scrutiny for Greenwashing. The Forestry sector is particularly targeted. To build a path towards sustainable wood products, a system approach is adopted in our initiative. The three pillars of sustainability are considered.

Social

The development and deployment of the mobile unit require effective engagement with local partners in identifying wood yards and use local capabilities in the upstream and midstream operations.

Environment

The mobile unit will reduce transportation fuel by 50% and will also use wood chips for all the heating needs

Economic

Through cost reductions of the upstream operations, proposed solutions will enable an economic viable solution for wood residue.
